Another man arrested for stealing packages

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — Another man has been arrested for stealing packages in a Johnson County neighborhood. This is the third arrest this month related to stolen porch packages.

The incident happened Friday around 1 p.m. A homeowner in Greenwood saw a man steal an Amazon package from her porch in real-time right after it was delivered.

She was able to get a suspect description because she had surveillance cameras setup.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office found the suspect about an hour later. He was pulled over and wearing the same thing as what was in the surveillance footage.

He was arrested and later admitted he stole a package off a front and went on to write the homeowner a lengthy apology.

25-year-old Chad Willis of Greenwood was arrested for a misdemeanor theft.

There are a few things you can do to protect yourself from being a victim to a porch pirate theft.

If you can have your package delivered to you while you’re at home, or even have it delivered to your work, that can be helpful.

You can also track your package online so you know exactly when it will be delivered.

Installing security cameras can be helpful especially in the case where the homeowner saw it happen and was able to give police a description.

Two other arrests happened in Johnson county earlier in December. A man and a woman were arrested for stealing packages across four counties.
