Brownsburg reopens upgraded North Green Street
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) – This Hendricks County town is celebratating the completion of a major construction project.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday afternoon to mark the end of construction on North Green Street. The half-mile stretch of road has been shut down for more than a year.
The $6 million project not only repaired rundown roads but also widened streets, and added turn lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks.
The goal is to get more people downtown and to be a financial shot in the arm to the community.
Brian Jessen, the Brownsburg Town Council president, said, “Five years ago you had a road that kind of came through town that didn’t really have a curb, didn’t really have sidewalks. North of town had some rundown houses, some areas that needed some attention. I think now it’s become a vibrant main street to connect to Main Street that’ll bring you through town. I think it’s going to really help redefine Brownsburg.”
A federal grant helped Brownsburg pay for the project.
