INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Fortis College – Indianapolis is helping children in need receive free dental care.

It’s all part of their “Give Kids A Smile” event happening on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Give Kids A Smile is a chance for dental students and teachers to get into the community to teach kids oral hygiene tips and tricks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, dental care is a national problem.

One in five children, ages five to 11, have at least one untreated decayed tooth. Those numbers increase for children in low-income families.

Give Kids A Smile is a national program from the American Dental Association, but Wednesday’s event marks the first year Fortis College In Indianapolis is getting involved.

There will be hands-on demonstrations, giveaways and other dental activities to get kids excited about dental care.
