Man reunited with firefighters who saved his life after bad crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man got the opportunity Wednesday to be reunited with the firefighters who recently helped save his life after a car crash in May.

Devon Damron, 21, was badly hurt in a crash on May 25 when his pick-up truck collided with a box truck. When rescue crews arrived to the scene they found him trapped inside his vehicle.

Crews were able to get him out and he was rushed to a hospital with multiple injuries.

Damron’s mother said she was prepared for the worst, but said the quick actions of the rescue crews saved her son’s life.

“Oh it’s very, very exciting to actually see Devon meet the ones that saved him that day,” said Angela Damron, Devon’s mother.

“I’m grateful for Eskenazi, the nurses and the doctors there for cleaning me up and all that, taking care of me,” said Devon. “And everybody else also, especially the medics and firefighters and the officers that were involved also.”

Damron will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Saturday and the reunion with the fire crew was an early gift.
