New IHS exhibit celebrates 200 years of Indianapolis with interactive maps, performances

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The latest exhibit to hit The Indiana Historical Society is one that celebrates the long and complex history of Indianapolis during the last 200 years.

You Are There 1920: Celebrate Indianapolis! is part of the popular You Are There series, which takes visitors back into a specific date and time with historic importance.

This exhibit takes visitors to Indianapolis centennial celebrations and features interactive activities like an exploratory map, a train table based on Indianapolis at the turn of the century and a performance based on the centennial pageant.

In the middle of the exhibit, there are four kiosks representing each side of Indianapolis, telling the story of how the city was designed and built.

COVID-19 precautions are in place in all areas of the exhibit and masks are required.

You Are There 1920: Celebrate Indianapolis! is open now and runs through August 2022.
