Pedestrian struck by vehicle, in critical condition

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police responded to a pedestrian being struck on the city’s west side in the 9100 block of West 10th Street just before 7 p.m.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on 10th Street when it went into a ditch Wednesday evening.

Police go on to say that it was at that time that driver of the vehicle exited his car and then attempted to cross the road.  The individual was then struck by a car headed westbound.

IMPD says the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

Alcohol is not thought to have played a role in the incident.  However, a standard blood draw will be performed.

The victim was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released the victim’s identity at this time.
