Youth-run farmers market in Lawrence open for last time this season

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — A farmers market grown and operated by kids is open Saturday for the last time this season at the Lawrence Community Gardens and Youth Farm.

Located at 9240 E. 46th St., the market is open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. People can tour and pick their own produce.

The market also offers 50% off if using the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.

Fresh produce is grown by local kids ages 9-16.

It’s part of a summer program hosted by Lawrence Community Gardens and Youth Farm, a non-profit organization.

The program allows students to learn about food nutrition and agriculture in an area that’s known to be a food desert.
