INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Strengthening the muscle associated with a person’s respiratory system could be beneficial should one catch COVID-19.
On Wednesday, Dr. Mary Gillis, D.Ed., demonstrated a breathing technique designed to engage the diaphragm, which is a muscle that aids in breathing. She also discussed why this exercise is helpful.
Gillis also talked about the importance of starting off slow and why a person should build diaphragm strength incrementally over time. She also said to make certain to check with your doctor before trying out this exercise as it’s not meant for everyone.
