Missing Rushville teen found dead in pond near campgrounds

RUSH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Rushville police and the Rush County Sheriff’s Department say a 19-year-old died after he was located in a pond in Arlington.

According to police, 19-year-old Timothy Edwards of Rushville was reported missing on June 20 around 9 p.m. Police say Edwards had not been seen for several hours at the campground in Arlington.

A search for Edwards began at a pond, but crews had to postpone the search due to inclement weather. The search resumed at 7 a.m. the following day.

K9 units indicated that the Edwards had entered the pond. Dive team members entered the water and discovered Edwards’ body in the water.

A positive identification was made by police. Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.
