A discussion on workplace diversity

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Diversity in the workplace. It’s a hot topic right now in various communities.

News 8 is talking about the barriers some people may face when it comes to workplace opportunities. On Monday, News 8 Multicultural Contributor Gloria Jimenez sparked the conversation.

Jimenez, the executive director of the Indiana Latino Expo, talked about the importance of diversity in the workforce. She stressed how the idea of putting a variety of world views in one room can produce better ideas.

Jimenez also said diversity can help increase creativity, increase productivity, improve performance and help boost your brand’s reputation. It’s important to talk about ways to reduce barriers regarding work opportunities. There has to be a dialogue.

On Feb. 19, an event called Removing Barriers at the Workplace will happen in Indianapolis.
