Police say woman found dead in car on I-65 near Whitestown was shot multiple times

WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — UPDATE: The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department says northbound I-65 traffic was closed at the Whitestown/Zionsville Sunday morning for a death investigation that is now being called a homicide investigation.

Police were called to I-65 at mile marker 131 on a report of a disabled vehicle against the guardrail around 4 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived they found an unresponsive female in the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the woman as Ceaira Reed, 29, of Illinois. She died of apparent gunshot wounds. Police say Reed was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The investigation into Reed’s death is ongoing.

A police investigation has shut down northbound I-65 traffic near the Whitestown/Zionsville exit, authorities say.

According to Boone County Communications, investigators have been on the scene near mile marker 130 since around 4 a.m. Sunday.

No details about the investigation have been released at this time. Police are on the scene diverting traffic.

According to INDOT, the lanes were shut down due to some type of traffic hazard.

The Whitestown Police Department is expected to release more information about the incident Sunday morning.
