Near 80° heat Wednesday; rain returns Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Up and down tempeatures this week, with rain and storms returning Wednesday night.

Tonight:

Warm front across the state has brought cloud cover to much of the area. Can’t rule out a stray shower through the mid evening hours, but most of us should be quiet.

Lows fall to the middle 50s.

Wednesday:

Warm front will surge north. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies for the morning, with more clouds coming in the afternoon. Can’t rule out a spotty shower or storm for the afternoon, but really the best chances for rain move in late Wednesday night into Thursday.

Highs hit the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Thursday:

Cold front will squeeze out showers and storms late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. A few of the storms could be severe, with gutsy winds and large hail the primary concerns. Rain should push out by Thursday afternoon.

Highs top out in the lower 70s.

8 day forecast:

Much cooler air settles in for much of the extended. Friday looks cloudy, dry and cool, with highs in the lower 60s. Should be dry for the IndyCar Grand Prix Satudray afternoon, with highs in the mid 60s. Next shot for rain arrives late Saturday night into Sunday.
