Not as hot, but muggy conditions to kick off summer

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — With summer set to begin Thursday, rain chances and cooler temperatures continue.

TONIGHT: We have a chance for severe weather this evening for the bottom half of Indiana, but it will remain isolated. A marginal risk is in place, and the primary threat is damaging winds. We could also see some isolated hail in a few of the storms that pass through. A few locally heavy downpours are also possible.

Isolated storm chances will be around for much of the evening through the early overnight.

Lows will dip into the upper 60s, but areas south of Indianapolis look to fall into the low 70s.

THURSDAY: Summer officially starts! We look to have two rounds of showers and storms. The first wave will feature steady showers that will move in during the midmorning hours.

The second wave will come in during the afternoon hours. This wave will contain the chance for spotty strong to severe storms. A marginal risk is in place for all of southwestern Indiana. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible.

Highs will top out in the upper 70s.

FRIDAY: We will have the chance for more spotty and isolated storms in the afternoon hours. No severe weather is expected, but heavy rainfall is possible with these isolated storms.

Highs will hover around the 80-degree mark.

8 DAY FORECAST: Enjoy the cool spell while it lasts because temperatures look to swing back into the upper 80s by the middle of next week. Isolated and scattered storm chances look to continue throughout the weekend. We will kick off the new work week dry before rain chances return by midweek.
