Over 30 pot plants found, 3 arrested for dealing drugs
MARKLEVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Three people are behind bars and more than 30 marijuana plants were found in Madison County.
Following a request by the Department of Child Services, law enforcement responded to the 1700 block of East Gilmore Road in Markleville on Feb. 20.
A search warrant revealed a marijuana grow operation with the plants inside of a detached garage on the property.
Inside of the residence, officers said they found between four and five pounds of packaged marijuana ready for distribution, more than $32,000 in cash, precursors for meth production, more than 1,000 round of ammunition, several guns and protective vests.
A 15-year-old and seven-year-old were also in the residence. Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger said the juveniles were cited into juvenile court and turned over to their parents.
Arrested were 42-year-old Brett Bair of Anderson, 42-year-old Robert Piggott of Dayton (Ohio) and 38-year-old Brittney Garrett of Anderson. They face multiple charges including dealing marijuana, dealing meth, dealing a schedule III controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Markleville Police Department and investigators with the Madison County Drug Task Force worked together in this investigation.
