Smoke detector blitz around Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There were 33 people who volunteered on Thursday to make sure that Indianapolis homes had smoke alarms.

The teams covered half a mile and installed 73 smoke detectors in 51 homes.

There were 10 additional homes that had their smoke detectors checked, but did not need smoke detectors.

Most of the homes inspected did not have a smoke detector.

Anyone who needs a free smoke detector is encouraged to call the IFD Smoke Detector Hotline at 317-327-6093.
