Stormy and windy afternoon

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Showers for the morning drive with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Winds will be gusty through the morning with sustained winds 20-30 mph and gusts 45-50 mph. A brief break from the rain mid-morning with rain and storms redeveloping rapidly late morning, early afternoon. Severe storms will hit late morning through the middle half of the afternoon. There is an enhanced risk of severe storms from Indy and points east. While western portions of the state are under a slight risk. Main threats with the storms will be damaging winds, large hail, an isolated tornado and minor flooding.

Highs Thursday will warm to near 70. A wind advisory for the day with winds expected to exceed 45 mph with gusts pushing 60 mph. Once the areas of low pressure move east it will usher in much colder air. Winds will shift out of the NW Thursday night causing temperatures to tank into the lower 40s.

Friday will be a raw and colder day with a chance of a few flurries and sprinkles during the day. Highs will warm to the lower 40s.

This weekend will be quiet but chilly with temperatures in the lower 40s Saturday with mostly sunny skies. Highs on Sunday with warm a bit with highs in the upper 40s for St. Paddy’s day with a few light sprinkles.

Next week starts off colder in the mid-40s with a chance of a few showers Tuesday with highs by the middle half of the week warm to the lower 50s.
