Wednesday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Wednesday’s business headlines.

Hyatt app

Hyatt will use a mobile app that can verify COVID-19 test results.

The hotel operator says tens of thousands of travelers already used Verifly since Jan. 1.

Hyatt says the app can provide peace of mind for in-person gatherings by providing attendees an option to directly receive and present COVID-19 test results.

Mothers quit work

Before the pandemic, the participation rate of mothers in the labor force was about 18% lower than fathers.

From 2019 to 2020, the gap widened by five points in states offering mostly remote instruction, and shrunk less, where traditional school continued.

The longer working women are home with their kids, the greater the risks to their career growth and to the broader economic recovery.

Disney+

Disney+ has officially surpassed 100 million subscribers, less than a year and a half after the streaming service launched.

Although executives didn’t say what pushed Disney+ over 100 million subscribers, the recent success of WandaVision and Raya and the Last Dragon likely helped.

Netflix has 200 million subscribers, as of its last report.

Chipotle

Chipotle unveils a quesadilla but digital customers only.

Chipotle’s digital-only menu items debut Thursday and marks the first customizable entree Chipotle will add to its menu since it introduced a salad option 17 years ago.

The quesadilla is filled with monterey jack cheese with the option to choose between chicken, steak, carnitas, barbacoa, sofritas or fajita veggies.
