Woman identified in fatal crash involving ambulance

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — One woman is dead after pulling out in front of an ambulance that was on the way to another crash on Wednesday afternoon.

According to The Greenfield Daily Reporter, a Buck Creek Township Fire Department ambulance was headed to a crash near the intersection of county roads 400 West and 1000 North.

Police said the ambulance was northbound on County Road 600 West when a red SUV pulled out in front of the vehicle while headed westbound on County Road 500 North.

The ambulance’s lights and sirens were activated.

The driver of the SUV was later pronounced deceased at Hancock Regional Hospital.

She has been identified as 64-year-old Greenfield resident Sheila Breck.

Two medics in the ambulance were treated for minor injuries.

A driver in a third vehicle was involved in a secondary crash. That driver was uninjured.
