Wintry mix Sunday and Monday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)–A sunny but chilly day around the area. Clouds increase tonight ahead of our next storm system.

TONIGHT: It stays quiet tonight with skies becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Lows fall into the middle 20s.

SUNDAY: Light precipitation overspreads much of the state. We’ll see a chance for some light snow showers early in the day, a light freezing rain mix before it changes over to rain in to the afternoon. Much of the precipitation will be light but there may be some very minor ice accumulations at times during the late morning. Highs climb into the middle 30s.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Look for mostly cloudy skies with another round of freezing rain and rain by daybreak. Lows fall close to 32.

MONDAY: Another batch of precipitation moves into the state. This time it will be moderate to heavy at times. It will start off as a mix of freezing rain and rain. As temperatures climb into the upper 30s close to 40 the freezing rain pushes farther north and changes over to all rain across much of central and southern Indiana.

Moderate to heavy snow will be possible in the northern part of the state late Monday and into the first part of Tuesday.

8DAY FORECAST: A few snow showers will be possible early Tuesday in northern Indiana. Otherwise look for mostly cloudy conditions during the afternoon. Highs stay in the middle 30s. A system skirts the southern part of Indiana late Wednesday bringing a chance for a few snow showers. Look for quiet conditions during the res tof the week with highs in the 30s.
