A look back at radar data shows why tornado warning was issued

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– Taking a look back at the radar data from Wednesday night’s severe weather event we can see why there was a tornado warning issued right around the Moorseville area at 8:46 p.m.

Looking at the velocity data you can see the red and greens close together. This indicates there is some type of possible rotation.

Our Baron shear tracker product also picked this up. Strong shear at the same time mean a good chance there was a possible tornado on the ground or otherwise very strong straight line winds.

North side of the city was hit hard by hail up to an inch in diameter in many spots. The south side of the city saw some hail but mainly strong winds near 70 mph.
