Boy, 13, arrested for shooting 14-year-old boy in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A 13-year-old boy in Westfield has been arrested in the shooting of a 14-year-old boy.

The shooting happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the 1200 block of Scarlet Street.

The victim was transported to an Indianapolis hospital and is stable.

The suspect has been taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center. He faces preliminary charges of aggravated battery and possession of a handgun without a license.

Police say the victim and the shooter knew each other and that this was not a random incident.
