Picking the right wine for your Thanksgiving meal
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each year millions of Americans eat many pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving. They will also drink a lot of wine as Thanksgiving is one of the largest holidays for wine consumption.
Easley Winery in Indianapolis has undergone about a $2 million renovation just in time for the holiday season.
The renovation includes the addition of a fully automatic Italian bottling line, which has doubled the winery’s production capacity.
Each week, the family-owned business makes 4,400 cases prior to the 2,200 cases before the updates.
Meredith Easley, who is the co-owner of Easley Winery, said those who host a Thanksgiving dinner should have at least three different types of wine to make the guests happy.
She said those wines should range from dry to sweet and include a red, blush, and white wine.
Wine could also be used to make cocktails. The business unrolled their Cranberry Smash recipe this season. That recipe is below:
- 3 parts Cranberry Jubilee wine
- 1 part bourbon
- 1 part simple syrup
- squeeze of lime
- serve over muddled mint leaves, raspberries, and crushed ice.
