Indy Film Fest returns for its 17th year
It’s back… and you’re invited!
Beginning August 13, the Indy Film Fest will hold select drive-in screenings and will unveil online short films and feature-length movies of all genres for Fest “goers” to screen at home. This year, the audience will feel a strong sense of pride as multiple movies with Indiana ties are in the lineup to delight.
Today on Indy Style, Christopher Lloyd, The Film Yap and Neale Johantgen, Indy Film Fest, shares more about the lineup, which makes available entertainment that film lovers would otherwise never see in the comfort of their own home
First-Rate Flicks
The Fest kicks off on the 13th with an opening-night double feature at Tibbs Drive-In Theater. The first film to screen will be I USED TO GO HERE, directed by Midwest-resident Kris Rey. In the film, a successful author (Gillian Jacobs, “Community,” “Girls,” “Life of the Party”) finds herself deeply enmeshed in the lives of a group of college students after being asked to speak at her alma mater.
The second film to show that night will be SLEEZE LAKE. Andrew J. Morgan and Nic Nummerdor’s documentary reminisces on a city of vans, debauchery, and summertime anarchy that sprung up on Memorial Day weekend in 1977 in Monticello, Indiana; what one of the participants refers to as the “Woodstock of Van-Culture,” it certainly revels in its celebration of lowlifes living their best life.
All social distancing guidelines and state mandates will be observed at these screenings.
Following opening night, movie lovers can enjoy more than 120 quality films from the comfort of their own homes by purchasing virtual tickets. Off-Screen Connection
As is the Indy Film Fest-way, filmmaker Q&A will still take place this year, albeit, digitally. Select screenings will have filmmakers available for live and recorded Q&A and “behind the scenes” sessions to learn more about the making of the films.
