Get your kids to listen in three steps

Parents may find that they’re repeating themselves even more these days with their kids spending so much time at home. Michelle Gambs, parenting coach and psychotherapist has three steps that will get your kids to listen.

  1. Empathize with how they feel and make sure they feel heard and understood.
  2. State a limit clearly or ask the child what the agreement is.
  3. Give them a choice (under age 4) or ask them what their options might be (over age 4).
