Red Cross offers January donors a chance to win Super Bowl LVI tickets

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — January is National Blood Donor Month and the American Red Cross is asking for people to get involved in its efforts to tackle nationwide a blood plasma shortage. According to the organization, the coronavirus pandemic has led to a large decrease in the number of blood donations and sites that usually hold drives; like schools and office buildings.

The Red Cross is making a special request for COVID-19 survivors to give convalescent plasma and help people still fighting the virus. Click HERE for more information.

“We always have a need for blood in the winter, the layer of pandemic challenges that go over that, from folks being unable to give, sometimes just challenged to get out of the house during the pandemic [and] that challenges our blood supply,” Kristin Marlow, executive director of American Red Cross Northwest Indiana, said.

In order to inspire more people to donate, anyone who donates blood, platelet or plasma will be automatically given an opportunity to win two tickets to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.

People who give now through Jan. 20 will also have a chance to win a “Big Game at Home” package. It comes with a 65-inch TV and a $500 gift card.
