Sun King Brewery brings test kitchen to new Fishers location

New Sun King Brewery at Fishers Test Kitchen

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — The Sun King Brewery is expanding in Hamilton County. The brewing company’s new location at The Yard at Fishers District is another grand opening to what is already becoming a hot culinary spot for people in the area.

“We are really great at making drinks and creating customer experiences, but we do not run restaurants,” said co-founder Clay Robinson. “When people come to get drinks they want a little bit of food so The Test Kitchen is a really great partnership that gives us an opportunity to add variety to what we do. It’s a perfect marriage for us.”

The Fishers Test Kitchen opens its doors to the public, under the same roof as the new Sun King Brewery on Saturday. It’s a restaurant accelerator concept that helps new chefs use a platform and a launching pad for their food and another reason for Sun King guests to have the option to eat and drink.

Natural State, by Chef Adam Sweet and his wife Alicia, serves southern comfort food. They also own King Dough, a pizza spot in downtown Indianapolis. Adam says he was inspired to bring people in central Indiana the tastes of his hometown in Arkansas. Korave, owned by chefs Jung and Kim, serves Korean barbecue and they wanted to capture the food truck scene that features flavors from their home country. Lastly, Lil Dumplings owned by Carlos Salazar, cooks up a variety of global street food.

Robinson spoke more about the reasons behind the Fishers move and what it means to him to give these local businesses an opportunity. Click here to hear more or watch the Facebook Live video below.

The City of Fishers approached Sun King about the idea about the two joining forces.

“We were really excited because we’ve helped talked to and mentor and incubate some other businesses around town so it’s an opportunity to give back in a way,” Robinson said. “[It’s] giving other local entrepreneurs an opportunity to open up a spot where thousands of people will come every single week to enjoy beers and having an opportunity to enjoy what they do and be introduced to a whole new audience.”

Also, in the building, will be the Signature Table, a performance and private kitchen space for chefs to demonstrate their talents, special tastings, private parties and unique culinary classes.
