Ball State awards contracts to upgrade athletic venues
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Ball State University has awarded contracts totaling $719,000 to replace the artificial turf at the Muncie campus’ football stadium and the flooring of the school’s basketball arena.
The Star Press reports Atlanta-based Sprinturf won a $410,000 contract to replace the eight-year-old artificial turf at Scheumann Stadium.
JBM Contractors Corp. of Zionsville won a separate $309,000 contract to replace the Worthen Arena’s flooring. That basketball arena opened in 1992.
The Scheumann’s turf replacement is set to start on April 20, right after spring football practice ends. The start date for the Worthen project is May 4.
Ball State also recently awarded nearly $2 million in contracts for repairs to the exterior walls and lower roofs at Worthen and for the replacement of the concrete stairs around the arena.
