Council considering plans to revitalize Lafayette Square area

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The City County Council is considering two proposals that would provide a total of $1.2 million to support economic developments in the Lafayette Square are.

Randy Adams, who has operated Lee Adams Tire & Service near Lafayette Square Mall for nearly two decades, said the area desperately needs the help.

“I have a lot of people who used to come down here, and now, especially women, they don’t want to come down to this area,” Adams said. They’re not going to walk to the mall.”

Adams told 24-Hour News 8 that in the past five to eight years he has lost 40 percent of his business.

Both proposals will be taken up in committee at a future Council meeting.
