Courthouse security plan to add cameras with sweeping views

GREENSBURG, Ind. (AP) – Security cameras at a southeastern Indiana county’s courthouse will rotate 180 degrees and allow officials to monitor every part of the building without cluttering it up.

Decatur County Emergency Management Agency Director Rob Duckworth says the cameras are part of a $49,000 project to improve security at the county courthouse. He says the cameras’ capacity allows officials to install fewer devices and preserve the building’s aesthetics.

The Greensburg Daily News reports the plan also calls for issuing electronic badges to courthouse workers and allowing visitors to use only one entrance.

The badges eliminate the need to re-key doors if an employee loses a key to the building.
