Woman fatally shot on southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Another person was killed in an outburst of violence late Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning in Indianapolis.

Just after midnight, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 9300 block of Troy Avenue, according to police.

Police were investigating a vehicle that was off the road. Officers found a woman inside the vehicle who had been shot.

The woman shot and killed has been identified as 26-year-old Jerica Mitchell.

According to IMPD, responding emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The early Wednesday fatal shooting on Troy Avenue follows deadly shootings on Shadeland Avenue and North Denny Street.
