Fire damages family’s east side home
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis family is staying with relatives after a fire damaged their home on the east side of Indianapolis Friday evening.
The Indianapolis Fire Department says it started around 7:15 p.m. in the 4900 block of University Avenue.
A woman says her children called her and told her the lights went out.
When she got home, she smelled smoke.
She found flames in the attic.
She called 911 and everyone got out safely.
A cause of the fire is under investigation.
