Flash Flood Watch for many Sunday and Monday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The National Weather Service has placed central and southern Indiana under a Flash Flood Watch until Monday evening.

Rainfall totals could reach anywhere from 2 to 4 inches or even more.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH: Steady and sometimes heavy rain will fall across a good portion of central Indiana Sunday and Monday.  If you live in flood prone areas, please have a safe place to get to on short notice and make plans for the potential to have to leave on short notice.

HOW MUCH RAIN?  This depends on where the train of the heaviest rain will set up.  Along and south of Indianapolis, plan for rainfall totals anywhere from 1″ to over 4″+ of rain.  While many areas are somewhat dry, these totals would be enough to cause flash flooding.  Here are some sample model rainfall forecast totals.

RAIN TIMING TODAY, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR FIREWORKS? Sunday night’s fireworks may have a chance of being dry the farther north you go, but it will still be iffy.  Storms with heavier rain could fill back into southern Indiana.

Independence Day FORECAST: Rain and thunderstorms will become scattered in nature for the fourth.  By the time we get to tomorrow night, that will still be the case, so there may be more areas that have drier fireworks than others.

Be sure to stay with Storm Track 8 on-air, online and on the go.
