Former IMPD officer, 2 others sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to dealing drugs
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A former Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer and two others were sentenced Tuesday for dealing drugs.
Nikolas Layton, charged with four felonies in a drug dealing case, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to one felony charge of conspiracy to commit dealing cocaine.
Layton was sentenced:
- Five years in community corrections with two years suspended
- Home detention with GPS monitoring
- Two years of probation
- Fines and court costs that totaled $1,166
Layton, the son of Marion County Sheriff John Layton,was arrested in early 2016. The 10-year-veteran was accused of dealing drugs along with two other people, Veronica Purdy and Christopher Reed.
Purdy and Reed also agreed to plead guilty to dealing cocaine.
Purdy was sentenced:
- Two days in county jail
- 180 days of Probation
- Fines and court costs that totaled $966
Reed was sentenced:
- Five years community corrections with two years suspended
- Home detention with GPS monitoring
- Two years probation
- Fines and court costs that totaled $966
