Heat, humidity and isolated storms return to close out the work week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Happy Friday, everyone! Expect mostly clear skies and comfy temps for the morning commute.

While we’re off to a great start this Friday morning, the pesky southeast breeze is back and that will allow clouds to build in by midday.

Temperatures will be much warmer than yesterday as well with highs eventually hitting the mid 80s this afternoon.

With the increased heat and a bit of humidity, a few storms are possible this afternoon and evening, primarily south of I-70.

If you’re heading out to any of the many area high school football games, the vast majority will be dry with temps in the low 80s by kickoff, dropping into the mid to upper 70s by the final whistle.

With a mix of clouds and clear skies tonight, temps will drop into the mid to upper 60s in most spots by daybreak Saturday.

A continued south wind will push temperatures back into the mid to upper 80s in many areas tomorrow afternoon.

Similar to today, we will see an isolated afternoon/evening storm threat, though most of us will likely remain dry through the first half of the weekend.

Sunday looks to hold the best chance for a shower or thunderstorm this holiday weekend with high temps in the upper 80s.

The warming trend will continue through Labor Day Monday and through the middle of next week before another slight cool down spreads our way with more clouds by the end of next week.

Overall, the next eight days will be fairly dry with temperatures well above average. Stay cool!
