Indiana launches free learning program for young children
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana’s Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning is accepting applications for their 2023-2024 On My Way Pre-K program.
The program allows 4-year-olds from lower income families to receive free prekindergarten education.
According to a release from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, children must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the program:
- 4 years old by Aug. 1, 2023.
- Plan to start kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year.
- Live in a household with an income below 127% of the federal poverty level.
- Have parents or guardians who are working, attending job training or an educational program, looking for employment.
- Met other requirements specified online.
Once eligibility requirements are met, families can choose from 1,055 approved On My Way Pre-K programs located across Indiana.
Families have the option of choosing a program operation that works best for them ranging from homes, centers, schools, religious settings, and more.
