INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A pharmacist has been charged and arrested for filling unauthorized prescriptions for painkillers and other drugs.

According to a release, Kevin Foster is connected with a medicaid fraud case and was charged on June 17.

He faces five counts of filling a fake prescription for legend drugs by a pharmacist.

The case was announced Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The U.S. Department of Justice said the case was part of the national healthcare fraud takedown. They said the coordinated national takedown was the largest in history.

Foster is accused of filling fake prescriptions for two of his family members.

The fake prescriptions include:

  • Hydrocodone
  • Diazepam
  • Viscous Xylocaine

The investigation of Foster began after his name was brought up in connection with the related medicaid fraud investigation of local dentist Dr. Bernice Avant. Avant pled guilty to medicaid fraud in January.

Foster’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 14.
