OSGOOD, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — A New York-based paper company has announced plans to expand to Ripley County. Case Paper, which distributes and converts paper and board for the printing and packaging industry, says it will set up operations at the former API Group manufacturing facility in the town of Osgood and create nearly 50 jobs by the end of 2023.

Financial details of Case Paper’s investment was not immediately disclosed. The Ripley County Economic Development Corp. says the facility’s general manager, as well as most of its office and plant employees, will join the company under the name Case Makes Inc.

“Prior to the acquisition this site had become our most reliable partner in terms of communication and quality,” Robin Shaffer, chief executive officer of Case Paper, said in a news release. “This is a true testament to the employees and processes they currently have in place, and the reason why this is a perfect fit for Case Paper and our long term vision to consistently add value to customers through inventories, converting equipment, locations, and people.”

Case Paper says the 117,000-square-foot facility in Osgood complements the company’s six converting and distribution facilities in the U.S. The company also cites the town’s proximity to Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Louisville.

The company plans to begin hiring for a variety of positions, including equipment operators and material handlers, within the next three to six months.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Case Makes up to $600,000 in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. The town of Osgood will also consider additional incentives.
