South Bend, enFocus offer digital inclusion toolkit
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – The city of South Bend is partnering with South Bend-based nonprofit enFocus Inc. to give digital assistance to area residents. The city says the Digital Inclusion Toolkit will help connect the 30% of residents without home access to resources needed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The centralized toolkit intends to connect residents to low or no-cost internet access and digital training resources.
enFocus says the toolkit’s WiFi Map identifies outdoor locations with no-cost internet access. Additionally, the nonprofit says the toolkit can direct residents to low-cost internet service provider offers and a library of digital literacy training programs.
“As we work together to curb this pandemic through social distancing, digital access for all residents is essential,” said Andrew Wiand, enFocus executive director. “We are pleased to assemble a comprehensive resource of digital tools to support community members in learning and working remotely, as well as staying connected to family and friends. This is one of many ways enFocus is working to make our community stronger in the wake of COVID-19.”
The partnership is encouraging local organizations to embed the WiFi Map in their digital communications and websites.
