Wabash Heartland Network building agricultural weather network

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Wabash Heartland Innovation Network is laying the groundwork for what it calls the densest agricultural weather network in the country in the 10-county region it serves in north central Indiana. The weather network is currently made up of 150 weather stations.

WHIN says the network can be utilized to predict the path of a storm or an amount of rainfall based on empirical data from the stations. Historical data also helps with insight into what the conditions were during a growing season and information on any possible crop diseases.

The network says data from the 150 stations, along with weather data, are shared with WHIN’s Ag Alliance members from 20 of the stations, which is made available for public viewing here
