ISP: 3 dead in LaFontaine crash, including murder suspect

LAFONTAINE, Ind. — State police said a Sunday crash between a car and a garbage truck on State Road 15 killed three people, including a man wanted in connection with a LaFontaine robbery and murder investigation.

The crash happened on State Road 15 near County Road 1100 South around 8:20 a.m.

Investigators said a vehicle driven by Terissa Williams, 19, Peru, was northbound on S.R. 15 when she crossed the center line and struck a garbage truck head-on.

Williams and her passengers, Kaleb Marin, 21, of Marion, and Thomas Reed, 21, of Marion, were pronounced dead.

The driver of the garbage truck, 54-year-old Gwendolyn Taylor of Wabash, was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for back pain. Her condition was not available.

State police said it took firefighters 90 minutes to remove people from Williams’ car.

Investigators said Marin was a murder suspect in the shooting death of 22-year-old Jordon Richards. Richards was shot and killed Wednesday inside a home in LaFontaine. During that investigation, police discovered guns and money were stolen from the home.

An arrest warrant in connection with murder and robbery charges has been issued for Marin Friday.

Investigators said Sunday they found one of Richards’ stolen guns in the car that crashed.

Police are still trying to determine why Williams went left-of-center.

Both the crash and Richards’ murder remained under investigation, according to state police.
