INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Animal Care Services is holding a late-night adoption event in hopes of freeing up some much needed kennel space for incoming animals.

The center is hosting the Late Night Adopt-A-Thon through 10 p.m. Saturday.

This is the second time IACS has kept its doors open late. During the previous event, the shelter was able to complete 101 adoptions in one day.

“The last event was really successful, with a lot of animals finding new homes,” Katie Trennepohl, Deputy Director of IACS, said in a press release. “With the recent cold weather, we have seen an increase in the number of animals showing up at the shelter. Our hope is, that just like last time, we will be able to free up some kennel space, allowing us to save even more lives.”

The event is being held at the shelter located at 2600 S Harding St. until 10 p.m.

A kissing booth will also be set up so new adopters can get photos taken with their new best friends. The adoptions will be $5, however some exclusions apply.

Due to the event, lost pet tours and return to owners will not be available after 6 p.m. and animal intake closes at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
