Man dead after resolved active shooter situation in Randolph County

UNION CITY, Ind. (WDTN) – One man is dead after police in Union City, Indiana responded to a reported active shooter situation Monday morning.

An active shooter situation was reported around 8 a.m. in Union City, Indiana.

He was identified Tuesday as 38-year old Michael Evans of Union City, Ohio.

The Indiana State Police told News 8 sister station,WDTN, Monday morning one man is dead and law enforcement is still investigating.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The area near Deerfield Road and Stateline was closed for an investigation. A post on Facebook also asked people to avoid the area and for those who live in the area to shelter in place. A new post around 9 a.m. said those that sheltered in place can now return to their normal activities. The Randolph County Emergency Management office sent the message Monday asking people to shelter in place.A second message was sent just before 9 a.m. saying the situation had been resolved.

The Indiana State Police is handling the investigation.
