Mayor ‘leaning toward’ skipping Christmas parade if Kid Rock remains grand marshal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A spokesman for Nashville Mayor David Briley said Friday he is “leaning toward” skipping Saturday’s annual Christmas parade if Kid Rock remains the grand marshal.

“If Kid Rock is still the grand marshal tomorrow, the mayor is inclined not to participate,” Thomas Mulgrew said in a statement to WKRN.

The mayor’s remarks come several hours after Kid Rock appeared on “Fox and Friends” live from his new honky tonk in downtown Nashville.

While on the show, he called longtime ABC co-host of “The View” Joy Behar a b**** and said people need to “get a little less politically correct,” according to CNN.

“People need to calm down, get a little less politically correct and I would say you know, love everybody. Except, screw that Joy Behar b****,” Kid Rock said.

“The View” responded a few hours later via Twitter, saying, “@JoyVBehar responds to Kid Rock’s comments about her said on Fox News this morning: “This b**** and these b****** will be happy to have you on the show and have a beer.”

Metro Councilman Freddie O’Connell has said he will not participate in Saturday’s parade.

In a tweet, he wrote, “I will not be participating in tomorrow’s Nashville Christmas parade. The choice of Grand Marshal evokes neither the spirit of Christmas nor the inclusivity I think represents the best of Nashville.”

Kid Rock was named the grand marshal of the Piedmont Natural Gas Nashville Christmas Parade presented by Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in September.

Steve Smith, the owner of Tootsie’s told WKRN, “I stand behind Kid Rock.”
