Obama orders flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Dallas attack

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – President Barack Obama is ordering flags to be flown at half-staff, as a mark of respect for the victims involved in the Dallas attack Thursday. 

I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, July 12, 2016,” President Obama stated.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff until sunset on July 12.

Obama is also directing that the flag be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at:

  • All United States embassies
  • Legations
  • Consular offices
  • Other facilities abroad- including all military facilities, naval vessels and stations

Obama spoke Friday morning in Warsaw, Poland, in regard to the attack. He was in Poland meeting with leaders of the EU and attending a NATO summit.
