INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Fernando Alonso has been involved in a crash in at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday as the driver was practicing for the 2019 Indianapolis 500.
Alonso was able to walk away from the crash, which happened in turn three.
His car sustained heavy damage to the rear.
“Better today than the 26th, but we will see what we can do,” he said after the crash.
Alonso cited a slight understeer on the car and admitted McLaren may have to turn to a backup car going forward.
