Dry Friday, active weekend to follow

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We had a cold and bright Thursday across much of the state with winds becoming breezy at times.

Thursday night: Another very cold night is expected with skies remaining mostly clear. Lows will fall into the mid teens with winds becoming relatively light.

Friday: After we wake up to a bitter start to Friday, we will continue to see lots of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. Highs will rise into the mid 30s.

Weekend: By now, you are most likely aware that our next big weather system will move in on Saturday and continue to impact the state through at least Monday. We look to start off with snow, and then transition to a rain-mix combo.

By Sunday, mixed precipitation chances will continue before we change back over to snow later in the day.

At this time, there is still the possibility for heavy snowfall through much of the northern half of the state. This could lead to significant snow accumulations for areas north of interstate 70. Things can still change over time, and this is why it is important now to download the Storm Track 8 weather app. You get all of your latest forecast updates, up-to-date radar, and timely warnings-watches based on your location.

8 Day Forecast: Lingering snow flurries are possible Monday morning before we finally dry out. A warming trend will then work its way into the forecast ahead of another system looking to move in towards the end of next week. Rain-snow mix chances are in place for Thursday and Friday. Highs will push towards the low to mid 40s by Thursday.
