A hundred dollars? $500? $10,000?

Whatever it sells for, just make sure you’re the highest bidder!

On November 17 (at 11am) and November 18 (at 12pm), Guernsey’s will host a historic unreserved auction of the contents of the famed Asherwood Estate that will take place on the property’s grounds. Arlan Ettinger, President, Guernsey’s Auction House tells us more:

•    The Asherwood collection ranges from 18th and 19th century Continental antiques to bespoke contemporary furnishings. Bidders will have the chance to take home a life-size marble classical figure of a woman, for example, or a circa 1920 Italian Pietra Dura round table.

•    Because there are no minimums attached to the objects for sale, all items will be sold to the top bidders regardless of the price.

•    Significantly, the sale is designed to benefit the Great American Songbook Foundation, founded in 2007 by Indiana native—and Grammy nominee—Michael Feinstein, with the intent to preserve the timeless standards of pop, jazz, Broadway, and Hollywood. Bren Simon, the wife of the late shopping mall magnate Melvin Simon, has donated the estate and its contents to the Foundation.•    For the first—and last time—the public will be invited to tour the grounds of Asherwood in advance of the auction. The public can enter the estate on November 10,11, & 16 between the hours of 10am and 6pm for a $25 fee, which can then be applied toward any purchase.

•    Those unable to attend the auction in person, can bid online through LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com.

•    This auction is one of many headline-grabbing sales overseen by Guernsey’s. The house has sold everything from Jerry Garcia’s guitar collection, to Princess Diana’s jewelry, and JFK’s sailboat.
