Teens need your vote in upcoming virtual talent show

If you know a teen who has talent an upcoming virtual event is right up her alley. Sistas of Royalty, a mentoring program is for girls between the ages of 11 to 18 years old is hosting a virtual talent show this Sunday, May 31 at 6 p.m. It’s being held as a fundraiser for the organization.

Veronica Watkins of Sistas of Royalty joined us today to tell us more about the organization and their event.

The mission of SOR is to engage, empower, and enlighten the lives of girls of color between the ages of 11 to 18 while building self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth. 

The talent show is run strictly off of donations. Participants are teens between the ages of 13 to 19 years old. 

They’ve been narrowing down their contestants on social media, and the top 10 will perform live on Facebook.

5 celebrity judges will choose a winner. The judges are, Tatiana Holifield-Arthur, VP/Head of digital strategy for Pacers Sports and Entertainment, Dani D, radio personality, Devvon Terrell, singer-songwriter and producer, MAJOR, singer-songwriter and actor (stars in the hit series STAR) and Swoope, gospel rapper, songwriter and pianist.

During the live performance viewers can vote for their favorite participation by donating to SOR. Every dollar donated counts as one vote.

Simply make a donation to SOR in his or her via PayPal using @Soroyal20, or Cash App using $SORoyal10 INCLUDE her FIRST Name in the notes. Every $1 donated counts as one vote. Voting starts now and ends 30 minutes after the last performance on May 31st.
