Parisian Flea Market to benefit seriously ill patients traveling to Indy for treatment

The Parisian Flea Market is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience that raises funds to benefit Fair Haven, a non-profit that assists seriously ill patients traveling to Indy for treatment.

It’s happening Friday, Oct. 8 & Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Clay Terrace in Carmel. Tricia Trick Eckert, board president of Fair Haven joined us today to share more about the event.

The Parisian Flea Market is Fair Haven’s largest annual fundraiser. The ninth annual shopping event is inspired by the eclectic flea markets of Paris that attract treasure hunters from all over the world. It features a unique collection of upscale and hand-selected items including home accessories, furniture, mirrors, chandeliers, dishware, estate jewelry, art and gift items. Volunteer designers from Rowland Design will use their talents to transform the space into a shoppers’ paradise.

Fair Haven hosts PFM annually to support its program to provide a “home away from home” for seriously ill patients and their families who travel to Indianapolis to receive treatment for cancer, high-risk pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, organ transplant, and more. More than 150 volunteers work together to make the market a success and introduce Fair Haven’s mission to the community.

“Fair Haven’s mission is to serve people in this difficult time of their lives, as they’re battling a serious illness while far from home,” said Amanda Milner, founder and executive director of Fair Haven. “We are able to fulfill that mission thanks to our generous sponsors, volunteers, and the Parisian Flea Market shoppers from all over the community.  Their support is a wonderful demonstration of true Hoosier Hospitality. By giving these patients a place to stay near the hospital, they are able to receive the critical care they need and also able to have family support around them. This lifts a huge burden for these families – for them, it is truly a refuge in the storm.”

Tickets are $5, and they’re available at the door or at fairhavenfoundation.org. Children 16 and under are FREE.

SAFETY PLAN: The event will follow the safety protocols of the Clay Terrace Mall.

Since 2008, Fair Haven has provided 35,000 nights of lodging to more than 1,250 patients and their families. With a long waiting list of families in need, Fair Haven is excited to announce the opening of Ada’s Place, a beautiful new facility near the downtown Indianapolis medical center, in September 2021.  Its opening will mean that more than 1,600 families each year will have the lodging and support they need while battling a serious illness.
