Man in custody after fleeing police, crashing on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was taken into custody Sunday night after trying to get away from police conducting a traffic stop. 

Police say they tried to pull a driver over at 27th Street and Keystone Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. 

When they walked up to the car, the driver took off. 

He ended up crashing into another car at 25th and Keystone. 

Emergency crews had to pull the suspect out of his car. 

He was arrested and taken to the hospital and was stable. 

The driver of the car he hit was also taken to the hospital for observation but appeared to be fine. 

Police had not released the name of the suspect or the charges he faced on Sunday.
